2011 Nissan Rogue S Continuous Variable Transmission Review

All Near The Nissan Rogue Manual Problems

In that location are a lot of things to beloved about the Nissan Rogue. An efficient, speedy picayune SUV that feels nice to drive, has high condom marks. And… a transmission that tin experience like more than trouble than it'due south worth.

What exactly is incorrect with the Nissan Rogue'southward transmission?

Well, here are some of the mutual issues:

  • Vehicle may not stay in Park
  • Transmission jerks while driving
  • Vehicle may non accelerate
  • Vehicle may accelerate suddenly

Gray 2022 Nissan Rogue From Front-Driver Side

Nissan has been using Continuously Variable Manual, or CVT, every bit its chief manual design for the last couple of decades. Hither'southward what you demand to know about that:

A Look at The Nissan Rogue Manual

A conventional transmission transitions between different sized gears equally necessary. It basically works like a more sophisticated version of a six-speed bicycle. A CVT achieves seamless transition by adjusting the belt bore with a single set of moving cones.

This is why Nissans are so fun to drive. There's no skip from gear to gear, it'south only one smooth ride. This is besides why Nissans have so many transmission issues. These systems can exist delicate and take a little more TLC than a conventional transmission.

iv Common Nissan Rogue Transmission Problems

Vehicle May Not Stay in Park

In several complaints, owners say that they put their Rogue in Park on an incline, and either immediately later stepping out of the car, or soon thereafter, they would hear a popular and see their vehicle rolling downwards the loma.

When the transmission goes, all you can actually exercise is replace the transmission. You lot tin check to see if your Rogue has been recalled at the NHTSA VIN lookup, and you lot may be able to prevent some issues past changing the transmission fluid every l,000 miles. Only in that location's no easy fix for a busted CVT.

Transmission Jerks While Driving

Car Transmission Clutch

Merely about every problem you might take with your Nissan'southward CVT starts with the manual jerking on the road. It may kickoff with a few little jumps here and there, and before long it's rattling violently.

In one case once again: The ready is to supplant the transmission. You can check for a recall, you can try to forbid information technology with frequent transmission fluid changes, just there'due south no easy DIY fix for this 1. Nissan has offered extended warranties as a result of their troubles with CVT, but have been slow to issue recalls.

Vehicle May not Advance

Several drivers have reported that their vehicle will end accelerating in traffic. It may shift into neutral, or it may appear to be in gear while the RPMs climb simply there is no forward motion.

If you have this result and there'southward no retrieve for your Nissan, check your warranty, and then file a complaint with the NHTSA. You tin practice it all online, and if a recall is issued every bit a upshot of plenty complaints, yous may fifty-fifty be reimbursed for the repair costs.

Vehicle May Advance Of a sudden

In some instances, the Rogue may accelerate suddenly even when your pes is non on the pedal. Yous may be noticing a pattern here: Simply about annihilation that can go incorrect with a transmission can become wrong with a Nissan Rogue.

Same story: Keep your transmission fluid fresh, check for recalls, and read your warranty.

Should You Buy a Nissan with a CVT?

The problems listed higher up paint a dire picture of the Nissan Rogue's CVT, but transmission problems aren't exactly limited merely to CVT, and replacing a conventional transmission isn't cheap, either.

The real business organisation with the Rogue isn't if CVTs are more prone to failure, simply that Nissan ofttimes seems slow to issue necessary recalls. This tin be a major deciding gene when buying a car.

Same problems out of my Nissan Rouge Select AWD with a CVT….cruise on the rpm increases and mileage decreases! This is a problem on flat ground, upwardly a hill, yes I know that mph will subtract going up a colina just to loose 15 mph with two adults and ii duffle bags with clothes. Flat ground cruise at 70 mph prowl on mph went done to 60, rpm went to 4,000. Aye, the manual has chugged, slipping. Called Nissan Consumer Diplomacy, as normal Nissan Consumer Diplomacy got the run effectually. Finally subsequently three people who couldn't speak English I got a Case# told to go to a dealership for them to do it'south diagnostic on the transmission. The vehicle has 119,200 when I called to complain. After 75 miles of driving for my job (sales) 1.5 hours of phone calls I finally got thru to someone to give me a case #! While waiting for Nissan Consumer Affairs, I further searched the cyberspace and found out that their is a class activeness police force suite, regarding Pathfinders, Rouges from 2014-2016, nil I found said sure models. And then I guess I'll leap on the law suite too! The trouble I have is my married woman is disabled and she drives, her doctors are about 20 miles from united states. If the transmission blows up on her while she'southward driving Nissan is going to accept a bigger problem.

Presently to be one-time possessor of Rogue SV AWD

2022 Rogue SV AWD. At 36000 miles while highway driving Fla to Tx whining from CVT began. Since then, I accept had to replace wheel bearing, $400.00, not one merely TWO pass side axles, 492. Each time, and now whining from CVT. Toll approximate to replace at 41000 miles, $4500 but for the trans.plus labor. What a huge POS this auto is! Nissan corporate is of admittedly no assistance. They can shove their case number and their vehicle foursquare up where sun never shines. DO Non BUY THIS JAPANESE JUNK! An over priced piece of unreliable c**p I take sunk THOUSANDS into this car and now the CVT is shot at 41000 miles. Cost to fix? $4500.00 plus labor. Not gonna happen to this granny...Im keeping my Social Security check and dumping this on the next victim of Nissans poor design engineering and design. Lesson learned...Never Always buy Nissan 100% J-U-North-K !!

2022 Nissan Rogue CVT went

The vehicle has 102,000 miles the transmission went and same matter equally others called Nissan obtained a case # and then got the run around from 2 different people IE that Nissan would non do anything nigh it; said that they would escalte to a supervisor and and then stated that the supervisor would just tell me the same affair. I asked for the VP of Consumer Diplomacy and was told that they could not provide that information. In talks with the chaser for the Class Action Law Suit; it baffles me that Nissan did not event a call up for the CVT's and every bit of correct now Will Non stand backside the vehicle when they new that the CVT's had major upshot. Cost to repairs going to be around $4300 from an contained repair shop which is almost $1000 less than what the Nissan Dealership provided me with an estimate. Very Frustrating and Disappointed

Will never buy or lease Nissan again

We have been huge fans of Nissan and our 2002 Quest has served us well till it got flooded during Sandy. We bought Quest 2012 and back then, knew zilch about the CVT. We had besides leased 2022 Rogue for my daughter. The Quest started having issues at effectually 100K miles. Trivial did we know that apparently, Nissan has extended the CVT warrant to 120K miles. Well, we did not know and ours caved in at 127K. It was a super scary experience. We literally only crossed railroad tracks and the motorcar started rolling backwards. I won't go into the entire ordeal, let's just say, we are done with Nissans afterward our lease on the Rogue expires adjacent yr.

Nissan Cube (2010)

I loved my little cube, until I could tell the tranny was slipping! So I can fix it, are you kidding me?, Or I could trade information technology in for another unlucky person. It was clean, it was beautiful looking, and I know somebody else will purchase it. I only got $2500 for information technology, But that's OK time to move on to another car, I got my moneys worth out of it, next please.

DO NOT BUY A NISSAN ROGUE

My daughter bought her get-go vehicle which was a 2010 Nissan Rogue. 185 000 KM and the CVT manual is toast. With all of the issues that this type of transmission has had Nissan should take washed the right thing and recalled them. They are not willing to do anything. Pathetic.
